Abstract
In Sindhi Language, Cluster of sounds is always composed of three
sounds: two consonant and one vowel. Consonants available in that cluster
are again of two types;
1. Vowel consonant
2. Vowel-less consonant
Once again that vowel-less consonant has two possibili$es according
to its func$on in the cluster. Either it will make its unison with earlier immediate vowel consonant or it will make unison with coming forth vowel consonant. For instance:
1. Il’mu ُم
گهِ نۡ $‘Ghin and مَتَ ُب tabu’Mak, مَطۡ ل
ُب labu’Mat,ِ عل
In these words, the vowel-less consonants ‘L, T, L and N’( ,ڪ, ط, ل
and (نhave made unison with earlier short vowel consonants ‘I, M, M and
less-Vowelِ علۡ, مَطۡ , مَ " ِ , گ نۡ .sounds of clusters form toِ گ ہ and ع , مَ, مَ ‘gh
consonants used in these examples can be named ‘Cluster Closing Vowelless Consonants’; because, those vowel-less consonants close the respec-
$ve clusters.
2. Pyar , ُ ار-پ dhyan ڌُ , ان3 ddukhyo يو9ُڏ and Sitra َ >سِ
In these words, the vowel-less consonants ‘p, dh, dd and t’ ک, ڌ, پ
and ٽ have made unison with coming long or short vowel consonants ‘ya,
ya, yo, ra’ يو, ا3 ,ا3 and َر to form cluster of sounds. َرE ,کيو, ا3ڌ, ا-پ Vowel-less
consonants used in these examples can be named ‘Cluster Opening vowelless Consonants’; because, those vowel-less consonants open the respec-
$ve clusters.
