Abstract
Over the last half century, open-angle glaucomamanagement has revolved mainly around topicalmedical treatment with or without lasertrabeculoplasty, with gold standard trabeculectomykept back for patients with advanced and progressingglaucoma. Keeping in mind the possible complicationsassociated with trabeculectomy and glaucoma valves,1these are usually kept for late glaucoma treatmentalgorithm. Development of new topical medicationshas actually reduced the rate of trabeculectomyremarkably.
