Abstract
Abstract:
Comparative literature or global world literature is an
academic term as well as a field. It deals with the literature of two
or more different linguistic, cultural or national groups.
Comparative literature is an interdisciplinary field, whose
scholars (practitioners) study literature across languages, national
borders, time periods and other fields (like music, Art & design
etc). It has been known as a new scholarly field since the 19th
century and during the 20th century till the Second World War this
field was characterized by the scholars of French School of
Thought. It has basically three famous schools of thought.
Comparative literature was introduced in the Arabic field of
knowledge like other subjects. The Arab scholars wrote a lot on it
and defined its limits, principles and requirements which a scho
(practitioner) needs before starting work on comparative literature.
In the following article, a detailed light is thrown on the works of
such authors in Arabic literature.
