Abstract
In language learning, teaching of prose possess the central position. Language is the source of expression and communication and its major portion consists of prose. Teaching of prose is the mean of training to develop ideas and expressions. The prime objective of prose teaching is to enable students to read and comprehend the text. Their pronunciation and accent must be correct, fluent in reading and they should be aware of linguistic aspects like stress, emphasis and punctuation. The article discusses the pedagogy of Urdu prose keeping in view the different genres.
