Abstract
Edward Henry Palmer was a polyglot orientalist. He translated the Holy Qur’ān in 1880. He was not as prejudiced as other western translator of the Holy Qur’ān had been in their works. Palmer's rendering is also not free from errors. He had been allowed a short period to accomplish this task. He rendered such a serious assignment in haste. His tragic murder did not allow him to revise his translation. He was killed two years after publication of this translation. He has left out some complete verses of the text untranslated. At some places, he has missed parts of verses and at other places he has skipped some Arabic words. This paper examines the background, methodology, presentation, language and errors of Palmer's translation of the Holy Qur’ān.
