Abstract
Dropout of young students from schools in the province of
Sindh has impacted the performance of students and teachers
alike. A high rate of dropout adds to the illiterate and less- skilled workforce of the nation resulting in more economic
stress on the country. This research is addressing the issues of
young students’ dropouts from primary schools in the province
of Sindh. A random representative sample of n = 167 male
primary school students and n = 154 female students from
primary schools in Sindh participated in the study from
Hyderabad, Sukkar, Ghotki, Nawabshah, Dadu, Badin, Larkana,
Jacobabad, Noshero, Tando Jam, Tando Adam and Sangharh.
Independent sample t-test tested the developed hypotheses. The
major findings emphasize that primary education dropout rate
in the province of Sindh has reached an alarming stage as a
result of professional negligence and poor check and balance
system among all such schools in province. The study suggests
reforms in educational policy and practices with respect to
primary education in the province to prevent dropouts
