Abstract
Peace and development of Pakistan is closely associated with peace in former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (ex-FATA). The region is in the grip of militancy and extremism since 2001. Ex-FATA lies at the border with Afghanistan which is also a victim to militancy and lawlessness since 1979. The unstable political and geographical conditions of Afghanistan provided safe havens to Tehrik-i-Taliban-Pakistan (TTP) which carries out attacks in exFATA.The prolonged militancy in Afghanistan poses security challenges for Pakistan. This paper is aimed at scrutinizing these Afghan-related challenges as well as prospects of peace in detail.
