In this paper, the issues and prospects related to the Urdu comedy have been presented. The paper starts with an analysis of the tradition of the comic in Urdu After this, the concept of the democratic nature of comedy has been presented. Comedy is neither appreciated nor liked in autocratic or monarchic systems. Comedy can be used as a 'weapon' in pursuit of global peace and prosperity. Moreover, Urdu literary criticism too has not given due recognition to Comedy as a genre. Citations and references have been carefully arranged in the paper.
