There are a number of women who played a significant role in
the Pakistan Movement and are prominent name is of Fatima Begum.
She laid the foundation of Jinnah Islamia Girls College, Lahore. She
inspired young minds to struggle for Pakistan in 1940’s. The girls
responded to her call and actively participated in Pakistan Movement.
The purpose of this paper is to highlight as how women emancipated
in Independence Movement in 1940’s.
There were restrictions, a women had no training in organizing
rallies and protest marches, and still they managed to do the
impossible. It was simply because of their commitment to Islam and
Pakistan. They desired to see an independent Islamic state. They
wanted their children to live in a free Muslim country. They wanted to
be free from shackles of British and Hindus dominance.

The objective of this paper is to emphasise that women of
Punjab were aware of their national duties. Fatimah Begum played
her role well in awakening women to come out of their comfort zone
of family life and participate in their duty for independence of
Pakistan.
