Many of today’s developed nations have achieved their freedom, independence, revolutions and power with the strength of manpower and their national, social, political, ethical and literary movements. Many movements rose, ended, or still prevail, with either success or otherwise, whilst the literary movements and their impacts rest and remain in the society through literature. This is because the literary movements work as a link between the nation and any kind of movement during their respective period. Literature of that era preserves the history and records of the movements to ensure its further transmigration to the future generation. One such movement, which is still preserved through literature, is the Bhagti movement. This movement was initially a mystic movement, which originated in the 7th century in Tamil Nado. The main source of this movement’s success and popularity during 14 to 17 centuries was the folk and mystic poetry, specially created by Bhagat Kabir, Gru Nanik, Tulsidas, Meeran Bai, Dadu Dayal and other mystic poets from the Sub-continent. The movement left its impact on many of the languages of the Sub-continent. We can also see its clear impact on Sindhi poets, such as Dadu Dayal, Paran nath, Qazi qadan, Shah Latif, Sami, Kishanchand Bewas, Parsram Zia, Sheikh Ayaz etc. This study focuses on the impacts of the Bhagti movement on Sindhi poetry.
