Iposteride (1), the new steroidal glucoside is isolated from the ethyl acetate derivation solvent sub-portion of the methanolic concentrate of Ipomoea turpethum Linn. Some known compounds stigmasterol (2), β-sitostenone (3), rosmarinic acid (4) and methyl rosmarinate (5), were accounted first time from this specie. Structures of the compounds were illustrated with assistance of spectroscopic systems particularly 2D-NMR. Compound 1 indicated noteworthy antibacterial action against one Gram negative and four Gram positive bacterial strains. It also showed significant anti fungal activity.
