Molana Altaf Hussain Hali was the first Urdu critic who criticized
Urdu ghazal and gave suggestions to modernize it. It was his vision which
guided him about the changing society and its demands. He said that the
Ghazal is the most popular genre and leved by poeple, whether they are
qualified or not, so we must change it and make it according to the modern
sensibility. The article discusses all the point which Hali raised to modify
Ghazal.
