The history and diversity of Arab relations with the Subcontinent This article highlights the history and diversity of Arab relations with the Subcontinent, specific links between them that must be shared with the Arabic research scholars and the Arabs as well. This is the first mile stone in the way of promotion of the Arabic language and literature in the Subcontinent. The Arab-Subcontinent relationship traces its roots back to the era of the spread of Islam. During the Arab rule(in Umayyad and Abbasid periods) in Subcontinent,Arabic language has lived although for a short time but, as the official language of the Subcotinent, being used as the preferred language for religion, education and every day communication and conversation in Sindh and Multan reigons (which consist of major part of Pakistan today). This relationship lived until the Arab rule ended in the Subcontinent, after which it slowly faded away. Researchers claim that a handsome constituent of relationships between Arabia and the Subcontinent were trade related, mostly involving commercial goods. History does not help us much in further exploring this ancient relationship as the details of the time period were lost having being met with neglect and disdain by local and Arab historians. This is a loss that can not be compensated, but it must be tried. This subject is still waiting for the researcher to come and see what is hidden from him and come out in the light of day what remains in the darkness of ignorance and lethargy and what has been suffering from neglect and disdain by both locals and Arabs. The following is a modest attempt to illustrate the history and diversity of the links between Arabia and the Subcontinent, which are infact very old and venture thousands of years back into the pre-Islam era, but prehistoric, and they are also varied, such as: linguistic links, trade links, knowledge and dawah links. Despite of that Arabic language and literature ofthe Subcontinent is still neglected by Arabs and local governments
