"I do not know whether this is the spot where Alexander
breakfasted with his Superintending Engineers – Perdiceas and
Hephaestion- but neither do I know that he breakfasted
elsewhere, so that perhaps to enhance the solemnity of the
occasion, we may take it for granted that we are seated on the
very same spot on which Alexander sat several centuries ago.
