Abstract
Art is essentially an aesthetic activity. Its main intention is to
express and symbolize the inner feelings of a person sufficiently through
the images of human beings. Art in its all forms fulfills its role by showing
the freedom of ideas and spirit. Poetry is considered as supreme in all
forms of art.
Poetry through its lyrical tune and beautiful presentation captures
the concentration of listeners and readers, and that is the art of poetry
which is remarkable in accordance of other forms of art and aesthetics.
Most philosophers including Hegel regard the poetry as the “most perfect
art”, because it provides the richest and most concrete expression of
spiritual freedom. Like all forms of the art Poetry is also able to show
spiritual freedom. Poetry is not just the prearranged presentation of inner
thoughts and ideas, but it is actually the enunciation of thoughts and
ideas in the language. An important aspect of the art of poetry is the
musical ordering of words themselves or “versification.”
In this research paper, I have tried to define the art of poetry, its
modes and forms with different artistic lyrics. Most of the critics on the
basics of the subject; have classified the poetry into three forms, i.e. epic,
lyric and dramatic poetry. Keeping in the view in this article I have
explained the different modes and meters of poetry.
