SHORT STORIES OF SIRAJUL HAQ MEMON
Abstract
In Sindhi literature, a large number of young writers come under
the passion for national & social change. Sirajul ul Haq is a major writer
among them. He wrote novels, short stories & dramas. His novels are
reflection of past & present of Sindh. Stories are written in background of
social conditions of Sindh. He highlights many serious social issues. He
motivates inspirations & encouragements. He criticizes the social ills in
society & demands a change through his a number of different characters.
History has remained a favorite subject for Sirajul ul Haq and he
gives it importance in fiction. Political & economic conditions of Sindh
effected youth a lot, Sirajul ul Haq in turn wrote with full interest on
such conditions to awaken the social consciousness. He performed his
role through his writings.
In this paper, characters of short stories are analyzed & studied,
so that readers may be aware of his style & thought and that how the
Siraj keeps a unique position in short Sindhi stories. Also, newly readers
may be provided the guidance with the help of the features of characteristic
about his works, presented in this paper.
