ICISM AND SINDHI LITRATURE
Abstract
Structuralism is the theory, which was originated from the
modern linguistic movement of 20th century. This theory was presented
by the French scholar Ferdinand de Saussure. Theory is principally based
on his linguistic model.
Structuralism claims that elements of human culture can be
understood in terms of their relationship in the larger overarching
system of structure. This perspective is new and different because before
this theory it was believed that language is encircled with meaning.
In literature, structural criticism is developed from the theory of
structuralism. structural critics consider language as a system of signs.
They try to analyze function of elements of a text by the help of
“structure” and it’s cultural system which is based on linguistic codes.
This approach attempts to study the literature as an objective perspective.
In this research paper, I have tried to present structural criticism
of Sindhi literature. At first stage, different words and phrases from
Sindhi language are discussed, those have changed their meaning due to
their “structure” such as,
جانور ، استاد ، شراب ،آسمان مان تارا لاهڻ ، اک هڻڻ ، ٻٻرن کان ٻير گھرڻ .
After that few, English, Hindi and Arabic language words are
analyzed, have changed their “structure” and have taken new forms in
sindhi language as like ,
جل مان جر ، ساجن کان سا ڄن، ما شا ا مان شال ۽ اسٹاپ مان اسٹآن.
Eventually, at last I have structurally criticized Sindhi literature
of different periods
