Abstract
Today Globalization with the improvement in the communication has changed the very outlook of globe. Local geographical boundaries have been invaded and corroded by the forces of the modern mass communication. This change has brought many traditional and conservative cultures, in direct exposure of the cultural invasion of different countries of east and west. Modern television has emerged as a strongest agent to disseminate programs carrying cultures of these countries. In Pakistan, cable TV is the fastest growing medium of communication. Through this TV system the rural population has now gained access to the local as well as the foreign TV channels, which was not so earlier. Pakistan Television which is the state owned TV channel had been only option for these villagers. In 2002 after the emergence of new media industry in Pakistan, KTN was the first Sindhi satellite TV channel which started satellite transmission in 2003. Now 8 Sindhi Television channels telecast news, views and entertainment programs round the clock. The new satellite culture has also challenged the linguistic phenomenon of Sindh by producing its own lingua franca which mixes English, Urdu and Sindhi. In this research paper I have discussed “Effects, issues and challenges thrown out for Sindhi Language on Television”.
