Abstract
This article attempts to highlight the highly valuable services, Mr. Banhon Khan Shaikh has rendered in connection with the compilation of Shah-Jo-Risalo with great labour and love. He was a rare self-determining scholar of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, whose work is of a remarkable quality as he spent more than 20 years period to accomplish the task of compiling Shah-Jo-Risalo in a local manner. His compiled Shah-Jo-Risalo was published by Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair, University of Karachi. What makes this Shah-Jo-Risalo more important is its purity and authenticity of poetry as well as meaning of 100% difficult words, which has been given an every page of it so that general readers could be benefitted from it. Besides, every verse is punctuated which has eased the very reading and understanding of Shah-Jo-Risalo. Indeed, Mr Banhon Khan Shaikh was a genius scholar and a formidable figure in literary circles of Sindh, who succeeded to separate the alien poetry from Shah-Jo-Risalo and, thus, made it more authentic and simple. A few letters of Mr. Banhon Khan Shaikh, written to the author are made a part of this article, which effectively put a light on the phases and difficulties , he had to face regarding the publication of his compiled Shah-Jo-Risalo and the behaviour of various publishing houses, who failed to get this work published, other than Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair, University of Karachi.
