Abstract
In Sindhi Orthography, discussions upon preferential form of words were carried out from 1853 to 2008. It has been observed that the preferential form of the few words came under consideration at regular intervals. Instead of proper study of the word, personal views were focused. A workshop upon ‘Textbook’s Language’ was organized by Sindhi Language Authority on 19th December 1998. In the workshop, the 2nd group of Scholars suggested that ‘ ُ ِڻ َپ َڍ ن َ ‘ is better ن than ‘ ُ ُڻ پ ’ َand after that such dilemm ننڍ a was never discussed again. Dr. Murlidhar Jetley, from the book named ‘Baab-naama’ by Nandiram Sewhani published in 1853 described about last consonant of ‘noon’, as vowel and vowel less in plural inflected form of Sindhi words. Actually, the Second ‘Noon’ of word ‘ because of ننڍپڻ’ placed after short vowel and before the place of articulation of plosive sound ‘ ; and last ‘Noon’ ڍ ’of ‘ ‘ in plural inflected form ٻارن، אکرن of Sindhi words, due to vowel of second last consonant would be vowel less. Unfortunately, no work has been done in this direction. Dr. Murlidhar Jetley described three forms of ‘Noon’ in Devnagry Orthography, but he couldn’t explain all aspects of ‘Noon’, like Noon as ‘vowel less consonant’. ئروë»ھر [́3/4ºòãôãرäë[ نون وينجن ساكن (قريبمخرج-آوאزن ۽ جمع جي گردאني) جومعاملو 67 Dr. Ghulam Ali Allana studied about ‘vowel lessconsonant Noon’ which appears due to placed after short vowel and before the place of articulation of plosive sounds but he considered it as ‘Nasalization’ in Sindhi Orthography. Further, Dr. Allana, in his examples mentioned resemblance between ‘vowel less Meem’ and ‘vowel less Noon’, although; these are different regarding sounds of vowel and consonant. In this paper, it is worked on the articulation of ‘vowel less Noon’ and it’s Orthography.
