Abstract
Rhizobia from root nodules of Albizia lebbeck, Dalbergia sissoo, Leucaena leucocephala, Pithecellobium dulce, Prosopis glandulosa, P. juliflora, and Vigna unguiculata were tested for their ability to produce root nodules on V. unguiculata. Isolates from all the leguminous plants produced nodules on V. unguiculata. Isolates from D. sissoo, L. lencocephala, P. dulce and P. glandulosa were most effective in nitrogen fixation and produced substantial increase in dry weight and nitrogen contents of the host plant.
