Abstract
Leaf analysis of Kaghzi lime grafted on Jcmberri Kbatti, Jett', Ehatti Khania Khatta, Kagh.zi lime and Eureka. lemon was done during August (1 183), Marsh and June 09841 with the objective of evaluating these root stooks for cornpatihility in tame of transio-cation of NPK and Fe, Maximum amounts of nitrogen (I,88%) were found in the leaves. of Kaghzi lime grafted on Kharne, Khatta, olosely followed by 1(aghizi Jinie stock, lron contents were found statistically similar on all rootstocks. soil analysis under the canopies of these trees revealed that NP1 and Fe contents of the soil were statistically similar indica-ting moil uniformity. Soil pH and Ea was also found uniform through out the field. INTROnuoTroN Commercial citrus varipti(e are propagated asexually by bu.ddingigrafting them on compatible rootstocks. Ksighzi lirnea is however, cool verit[ocally raised through seeds, which entails variation in quality and quanitity of the crop. Seedling trees also 'start bearing very late, It is however deemed desirable to adopt the asexual method to vetabliBh the chara.4:terietio3 of the, ci op. l'uimu ing therm efforts kaghzi was grafted on five rootstocks aLd relevant studies were initiated to recommend Oiorrie euitable rootstock for this important fruit. According to Smith et al. (1949) rootstocks dek.rn.ine the vigour, produ.. ctivity of the plant and quality of the product by affecting absorption and translocation of mineral elements from soil which u[timattilY affect the overall performance tit the scion trees, Haae (1915) found. more Ca, Mg and lftes K in grape-fruit, Naval and Valencia orange leaves grafted on sour orange than those on sweet orange. He also found highest nitrogen and phosphorus contents in ViAlitnica orange leaves Department of horticulture, University of Agriculture., Faisalabad, Pakistan.
