Abstract
Every year more than nine and a half million children under the age of 5 years die worldwide. This figure has not changed significantly from 1999 when the global under-5 mortality was just under 10 million. 70% of under-5 mortality is the result of diseases such as acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, malaria, malnutrition and various neonatal problems. Three out of four children who seek health care are suffering from at least one of these five conditions. A single diagnosis may not be possible in many children who are suffering from more than one of these conditions. Comprehensive assessment and combined therapy is needed in these children for fruitful treatment and outcome.
