Abstract
Haali occupies a special position in the history of Urdu literature. He
was a poet, a critic, a teacher, a reformer and an impressive
prose-writer. He was a close friend of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. His work
"Mad-o-Jazr Islam" which is commonly known as "Mussadas-e-Haali"
was the most famous book of 20th century in Muslims of India during the
British reign. It is said that this book was read everyday in every
Muslim`s house of the country. For it contained the mistakes and the
reasons due to Which Muslim Empire in India had a downfall. This book
was used for upraising the morale of Muslims.
It really has a great contribution in history of Muslims of India who
later made a political party, and ultimately became an independent state
which is today called Pakistan. In the present article, writer has
focussed on the role of Mussadas-e-Haali in the evolution of Islamic
Thought in the sub-continent.
