Abstract
Novel is literary genre which represents life. In Urdu, novel got its start under
the requirement of social reformation. Hence the basic motive and primary focus
of initial novelists was social and cultural reformation of society. Abdul Haleem
Sharar is credited as the first historical novelist in Urdu. However in the outset
he also composed novels in social prospective. These social novels incorporate
the affects of reformation movements. His social Novel of depiction of
contemporary panorama of his age. This article is an attempt to explore to his
social and cultural consciousness in the light of his novelistic discourse.
