Abstract
This article attempts to outline the story of Gilgamesh, probably
written about five thousand years ago. It highlights the salient features of
the story, its implications and its symbolic dimensions. Notice has also been
taken of other characters associated with the story. It can be regarded as a
brief and insightful introduction to this ancient legend
