Abstract
When Ahmad Fraz began his poetry, Urdu poetry, breaking the
magical shackle of romanticism had learned that real greatness lies in
portraying the adverse realities, rather than creating a utopia. Furthermore
he was nurtured in such an environment that his creative consciousness
always egged him on to stand the oppressor and to resist the despotic
behavior.
Ahmad Faraz, due to his sentimental and romantic poetry, is generally
considered, the poet of youth but being a part of an oppressed society
revolutionary elements, rebellious approach and slogans for human
liberties can be seen in his every other piece of poetry. Voice against the
oppressors, revolt against the dictatorial behavior, resistance against the
despotic approach and sedition against the dominating powers are not only
found in the Nazm or Gazhal of Faraz but his other poetic genres such as
Hamd, Naat, Salam and Trana are also full of these thoughts.
