Stages of lexicography
Abstract
The level of development of a language can be judged from the
vastness, universality and variety of its vocabulary. The
organization of this vocbulary in a specific way, elucidation of
thier meaning and connotations is called lexicography.Although,
it is a practical impossibility to comprehend all the verbs, idioms
and proverbs of a language, dating from its incipience to the time
of its lexicalization,yet a period of evolution of a language can be
demarcated and its vocabulary can be lexicalized as well as
elucidated. This elucidation of language items requires a specific
arrangement.This artical is meant to comprehend the stages of
lexicographical compilation.
