Shah Latif’s Poetry: A Literary, Artistic and Linguistic Evaluation
Abstract
To understand the true greatness of Shah Abdul Latif it is essential
to make an artistic, literary and linguistic assessment of his poetry. By now,
such an assessment has been made at two levels: local and international. At
local level, the scholars and researchers have studied the linguistic qualities,
style, prosody and musical elements of his poetry and have given him a high
position among the great poets. At international level, some scholars have
evaluated his poetry on the basis of international literary principles, standards and values have placed him on the heights of greatness. In this article
an attempt has been made to present a brief research analysis of Latif’s poetry, keeping in view the evaluation of his poetry by the scholars on local
level in the sub-continent based on the commonly followed artistic, literary
and linguistic principles of critical analysis.
