The creation of Pakistan was actually the continuation of the
dreams of an attempt to unite those Muslims of the Subcontinent who
wanted to adhere to an Islamic way of life. TodayLs Pakistan presents
a best case study for radicalization, identity crisis, sectarianism and
the growing tussle between Islam and politics. In a developing
country like Pakistan, the role of Islam in political arena is not a new
issue, the rather growing, day by day. A serious attention on this
subject reveals that this religious tussle was there in the subcontinent
long before the existence of Pakistan. This paper is an attempt to
highlight those Islamist elements who long before the establishment of
country sowed the seeds of different variants of Islam from which we
can not get rid of. Even today, we are endorsing our version of Islam
while labeling the other version as infidel.
