In this study, different theoretical dimensions have been assessed regarding English language acquisition among school children at primary level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
(Pakistan) as the research has shown evidence that children are fast learners. In this regard researchers have proposed different theories, which could have far-reaching results on the process of English language acquisition of learners. In this paper,key aspects of Krashen’s Monitor Model in general and Input hypothesis in particular, have been assessed and its relation with
Output Theory (Swain, 1985), Interaction Theory (Long, 1981,83) and Vygotsky’s concept of ZPD (1978) have been discussedapropos English language teaching at primary level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For that to happen, eight English medium private schools were visited in which 9 classrooms of grades 1, 2 and 3 were observed thrice. Communication Supporting Classrooms Observation Tool adapted from Dockrell et al. was employed , and data were analysed through SPSS.
