Islamic Trend in the Poetry of Ghazi Al-Jamal Diwan (Tear of Firefly) as an Example
Abstract
This paper sheds light on the Islamic sense in the poetry of the Jordanian poet Ghazi
Al-Jamal, a sense that gives poetry more beauty, elegance and sincerity of passion. It
discusses several elements including introduction, Ghazi Al-Jamal's sources of
Islamic sense in his poetry (the Glorious Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet and
Islamic history), topics of Ghazi Al-Jamal's Islamic sense in his poetry and
conclusion. The significance of the research lies in dealing with an aspect of Ghazi
Al-Jamal's poetry that has not been previously addressed by researchers, and proving
that the Islamic sense in the poet’s poetry is present and represents an Islamic trend.
The study found that the poet addressed the call to correct the belief, stimulate
people, fight injustice in all its forms and respond to advocates of Westernization.
He also dealt with social and political issues in his poetry and expressed the
problems of people and the concerns and pain that annoy them, rejecting injustice
and tyranny, striving for his people and country, and spreading the spirit of
resistance to achieve freedom with a genuine Islamic vision stemming from the love
of Islam. The descriptive analytical approach will be adopted in this study.
