System

and structure of words which engender new vocabulary to
supplement expression by the language users.
In this context, Urdu language also contains such a word
generation system which conceives new variety of words and
phrases. However, it is clear that Urdu contains no original or
basic vocabulary of its own rather it is influenced greatly by Arabic
language. Urdu manipulates prefixes and suffixes for the
generation of new words which are found in Arabic, Hindi, Persian
and English. For instance, to generate a verb in Urdu ‘na’ (نا (is
added tp Arabic word ‘badl’ (بدل (to make ‘badlna’ (بدلنا .(So Urdu
consumes a vast vocabulary of Arabic words after a little
manipulation. For instance, ‘Rahima’ (رحمۃ (change into ‘Rahmat’
(رحمت (and ‘ghanima’ (غنیمۃ (into ‘ghnimat’ (غنیمت (etc.
