Abstract
Islam is the religion of peace and teaches mutual respect and good
social relationship to its followers.But unfortunately it’s a general
mis-conception that Islam wants its followers to keep away from the
believers of other religions. It is true that the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) has
drawn a line of distinction between a Muslims and a non-Muslims in
Makkah or in Madinah for the core purpose of maintaining Islamic
uniqueness among other religions rather than denying plural society. In
fact, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) has provided certain guidelines to his
followers regarding plural society. According to the vision of Allah’s
Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) regarding plural society, all individuals,
irrespective of their religious identity, should be treated equally. He
(S.A.W) did not allow any prejudice, torture and discrimination on the
basis of religion.Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) directed Muslim to uphold
equity, honesty and tolerance in order to maintain relationships with all
our social contacts.In this paper, efforts are made to collect a few
examples from prophet’s Seerah to get the best guiednence in this
era from these examples to live a balanced life with the other non
Muslim nations.
