Abstract
The care and look after of orphan and street children is a very important issue of human societies. This is very important for social security and growth. In today’s world we can see the orphanage on individual and collective level. Similarly orphan houses are established under the supervision of private and government organizations. This is because of the teachings and practices of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Before Holy Prophet (PBUH) there was no one who has taken care of orphans as he did. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the foremost one who laid out rules for the preservation of their rights. Religious and social laws had no room for their rights. When Holy Prophet (PBUH) was institutionalized last prophet, there was a considerable figure of such orphan children who were in a very poor condition living without caretakers. This article deals with the teachings and actions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who set an example for his Ummah being a caretaker, savior and protector of the rights of orphans. He not only took practical steps for the rehabilitation, but also warned people about ill treatment of orphans. He motivated them for the preservation of their rights and made them aware about the rewards for good treatment of orphans.
